Mr. Char has substantial experience in the areas of real estate acquisitions, sales, financing and development; commercial leasing; public finance; condominium hotels; and related areas. He has participated in transactions involving the acquisition, financing, development, operation, and/or sale of resort hotels, commercial office buildings, shopping centers, residential condominium projects, timeshare projects, vacant land, on-going business concerns, franchises, and residential and agricultural subdivisions, and has also advised clients on bankruptcy and environmental matters in the context of such transactions.

Education
Mr. Char received his Bachelor of Arts, with honors in History, from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut in 1974, and earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1982. Mr. Char also did graduate work at the University of Chicago, Committee on Social Thought (1976-1979) and the University of California at Berkeley (1987-1991; M.A., 1988, Chinese History; Fulbright-Hays Scholarship, 1989-90).

• Professional Affiliations – Mr. Char is a past director of the Real Property and Financial Services Section of the Hawaii Bar Association.
